What is the difference between single and double locking long throw locks?
A single-locking long throw lock features a keyhole on the outside and a simple push-button or turn-handle on the inside, making it easy to exit your garden without a key. A double-locking model requires a key to open the lock from both sides. Double-locking is highly recommended for shorter gates or doors with gaps where an intruder could potentially reach over or through to unlock the gate from the inside.
What is a Suffolk latch?
A Suffolk latch is a traditional style of garden door handle that dates back centuries. It consists of a decorative handle and a thumb-press lever on the outside. When you press the thumb lever, it lifts a latch bar out of its keep on the inside of the door, allowing the gate to open. They are incredibly popular for adding a classic, period look to wooden gates and shed doors.
Which finish is best for outdoor gate handles?
For maximum rust and corrosion resistance, look for galvanised steel or epoxy black powder-coated finishes. These are specifically treated to endure heavy rain, frost, and UV exposure without degrading.
