What are the strongest metal hinges for a heavy front door?

For a heavy external door, you should use Grade 11 or Grade 13 ball bearing metal hinges, ideally made from stainless steel for maximum weather resistance. Ball bearing hinges are much stronger than standard butt hinges because they distribute the door's weight evenly across the knuckle, preventing the door from sagging or dropping over time.

How many door hinges do I need per door?

As a general rule, standard internal doors require two door hinges (placed top and bottom). What is the difference between a butt hinge and a flush hinge?

A flush hinge is designed so one leaf folds inside the other, allowing it to be screwed directly to the surface without cutting a recess.
