Safety Harness & Lanyards

When working at a height, it’s vital to have the proper safety equipment. Safety harnesses and other height safety gear offer personal protection when there is a fall risk. A safety harness is recommended when working at height for roofing, window cleaning, scaffolding and tree surgery.

What is a Safety Lanyard Used For?

The primary purpose of a safety lanyard is to stop the user from falling. It is clipped to the safety harness and attached to a secure anchor point. There are two different types, a restraint lanyard and a fall arrest lanyard. Restraint lanyards prevent falls by restricting your movement, whilst a fall arrest lanyard catches the wearer and absorbs any impact if a fall does occur. Fall arrest lanyards are designed with specialist materials such as cable or webbing, often with an internal shock cord.

How to Choose a Height Safety Harness

It’s important to choose a suitable harness for the task and use it correctly. Key considerations include the type of application, industry, height and risk level. Safety harnesses often have additional design features such as adjustable straps, lanyard connectors, webbing and D-rings at the side, front and rear. Toolstation stocks a wide range of fully adjustable safety harnesses, safety lanyards and related accessories such as karabiners. Height safety protection equipment is essential to prevent serious injury in the workplace.
