Traffic Cones

Traffic cones play an essential role in any traffic management plan. With a wide range of sizes and styles available, these road cones can be used for anything from marking out temporary routes to blocking off no-go zones and restricting access.

At Toolstation, we stock a variety of road and traffic cones in sizes ranging from 450mm up to 750mm for use on dual carriageways. Use them as part of your traffic control system and enable work to be carried out safely in plenty of space.

Road Cones

Road cones must adhere to strict safety standards if they are to be used on public highways. This includes BS EN 13422.2004 and BS873 Part 8 regulations, which set rules for traffic cone height, colour and base size as well as the type of reflective material.

Choosing the right road cone size is also dependent on the speed limit of the road to be worked on. Traffic cones must be at least 450mm for use on single carriageway roads up to 50mph, increasing to 750mm or above for higher speed limits.

No Parking Cones

While road cones are traditionally bright orange in colour, other traffic cone types can feature different styles and designs. For example, a no parking cone is often yellow and features a ‘no waiting’ logo – these cones are ideal for clearly marking restricted areas in car parks or along pavements.
