Water Hardness Test Kit is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted The kit did it’s job, but I was taken by the excellent service I had. Click and collect, and a happy smiley face to hand it over. Makes life so much easier if everyone smiled. Thank you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't seem to work Test results showing water harder after water softener than before? When used on water coming out of hot tap (which should be soft) the hardness results are sky high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works well Like the previous Reviewer, I was concerned at the mixed feedback to date. If you follow the instructions, the test kit works very well in my experience. Collect the correct amount of water, shake the bottle and tube each time, let the drops in one at a time, watch the colours change, and it works very well. If you have any kind of mixer tap, be sure to run the selected tap for a while, to be sure of the water sample that you are checking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works surprisingly well Having read the mixed reviews I was dubious about purchasing, but I did and was pleased to find that the tester works extremely well. The following may help and is how I did it. Measure the 10ml sample accurately. I also gave the dropper bottle a good shake to begin. Hold the dropper bottle vertically and agitate the container after every drop, counting the drops as you go. If the water turns blue after the first drop there is no need to continue as the sample is very soft. The sample will turn red/mauve if the water is hard. Continue to carefully add drops agitating after every one. Stop when the sample turns blue. I found the change very sudden and obvious. Drops x 20 = Hardness ppm

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mostly does not seem to work. Odd With a non softened supply (around 350ppm according to water co) all i get is blue. Never red(ish). If i try it with my softened supply i do get a red/purple tinged start which moves to pure blue. It seems like it cannot deal with water that is too hard. Which seems rather odd. But this makes it very hard to trust that it is working at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A waste of money The kit doesn't work. Colourless end point for both hard and for softened water. I couldn't see any colour at all in any of the water I tested. I emailed Calmag but they didn't really help with this. I would not recommend this kit in any circumstance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ambiguous, difficult to read result. The colour changes are so slight it is difficult to get a meaningful result. Go for Simplex Health test strips, whose results are clear, changing from lemon yellow in soft water to deep red in 300ppm hard water, through various shades of orange. (NB I have no connection with Simplex, just experience of both methods.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Results are anything but clear. On first try to solution showed no sign of the red colour, though our water is 300ppm hardness according to the water company. I shook the reagent bottle for a few minutes (no mention of this on the instructions), and a test now produced a very pale pink. More drops resulted in a gradual shift through purple to blue, so no sharp indication.
