Reviews
Roughneck Ultimate Mortar Gun Spares Kit (12 Piece) is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mortar gun Nearly didn’t buy it after the mixed reviews, but it works really well. The mortar needs to be well mixed and pliable. I used 4:1 building sand to cement and a splash of plasticiser. If you use sharp sand and make it dry it will not work!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed at all poor quality badly designed. As others have said you have to have mortar very wet and it still gums up with the largest nozzle needing the tube to be flushed out half way down. The spanner provided was far to big to fit the nuts it was supplied for and after the first go the nut on the end disappeared I guess it's in one of my joints has to find another to fit thread and recess on the plunger.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No good steer clear Paid extra to the Ultimate and after struggling for an hour or so ended up abandoning it and pointing patio the old fashioned way with pointing tool and trowel. Mix too wet just falls out and too dry just clogging up. Steer clear of this tool I have decades of experience and desperately wanted this to work and got no way.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Tme and Money really not as expected, the mortar mix has to be really wet and then water pours out when its getting compressed next to useless ending up doing the old method semi dry mix hawk and trowel can't beat it as for the mortar gun couldn't go lower than 1 star or would have.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great idea - does not work in practice No matter how soft / wet the mortar, after the first 20% comes out the remainder is stuck/ dry as all water content is pushed out by the plunger action

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Even the smallest mortar nozzle works a treat Was amazed that with a runny mix, plenty of platiciser and mixing with a bent bar in a drill, even the smallest (c 5mm diameter) mortar nozzle worked a treat, filling gaps between bricks laid in a circular pattern - ie variable width. Just left it to lose some water/go off slightly before pointing. Reckon it's about 3 x faster than using a trowel to tamp normal mortar into the gaps as I was doing before. As everyone else says, having a bucket of water on hand to clean between fills was very useful.
