Roughneck Mortar Gun Spares Kit is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Roughneck Mortar Gun This tool is ok, but you have to be ready for it! The supplied 'scoop' is larger in diameter than the tubular body of the gun, so very quickly, the threads of the tube get covered in mortar. Have a number of wet dry clothes ready to wipe the threads clean after you manage to fill it. The mortar from the scoop, therefore, does not flow easily into the tube, so you need to have something to break the resulting airlock, which prevents the mortar from filling properly into the tube. Any air gaps inside the tube will result in you not being able to expel the motor later. I used the 'orange' adaptor first, and soon realised that I needed a 'wetter' mix than my first effort. So you take it all apart, and expel and waste your first load, and discover that you did indeed leave an airlock in it! Take the opportunity to wipe the threads again. Mix a 'wetter' mortar, and, again, using the orange adaptor, you get a good result. Surprisingly, I didn't get and 'drips' that most people have reported. (But that comes later!) I then reloaded with the 'fine white' adaptor, but forgot to clean the threads) and press all I could, I couldn't get any mortar out of it. But, you guessed it, I did get the water leaks that everyone has reported! So take time to cover all your work area, because, before you know it, you will get drips everywhere. Noted also, is that the tube to adaptor has no rubber seal, so these 'drips' are most likely! I ditched the idea of using the 'fine adaptor', and whilst my mortar mixed dried, I managed to use other tools to fill the smaller gaps that I had hoped this 'mortar gun' would have easily done. I have cleaned the tool afterwards, but would suggest you get something like a toilet brush for this, and leave yourself a good thirty minutes for the task at the end of your day! I will try it again tomorrow, but I will only be using the 'orange' adaptor. Overall a tool to have available in the garage, but I would only recommend it if you have the time, and unending patience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used to grout natural stone paving I was sceptical after reading the reviews, but found the gun worked well after a bit of testing. My tips for use. Use plasticiser in the mix. Mix needs to be creamy to flow from the gun. I used 4 scoops, the one in the kit, of sand to one scoop cement with 50/50 plasticiser and water and made up a fresh mix for each gun load. Clean the gun and cap threads after loading. Keep the gun upright until you are ready to use it. Knock the slug left in the gun, after each load, out regularly. After use clean the gun well in fresh water and I found a quick spray with WD40 on the moving parts kept the gun ready to use the next time. The only improvement I suggest is an angled nozzle

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made life so easy I purchased this even after reading the reviews, I wondered why some people could get good results and some couldn't, the mortar has to be mixed very creamy, very wet with plenty of plasticiser. Then when you fill the tube the mortar naturally falls ok the nozzle, I kept my finger over the end while filling. This then worked a treat, was so easy to apply, a good tip is when you need to refil, make sure you bang out the last bit of mortar that's left in the gun, as this becomes like a compressed hard plug stopping flow. I also between fills just dipped both ends of the tube in water. Great tool fantastic job!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke on First Use! Needed to repoint some brickwork so this looked ideal. Made the mortar to the consistency specified and loaded it into the gun. Some mortar came out then it became harder to squeeze the trigger. Some water was squeezed out of the gun then the top snapped off. Waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless Probably the most useless piece of equipment you could ever buy. Mortar has to be so liquid that it almost runs out of the gun and then by applying pressure the moisture is squeezed out, leaving solid 'plug' in barrel.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it Don’t waste your money on this. Bought it to repoint a wall. It fell apart after the second mix. Buy the more expensive one it is brilliant. Toolstation took this back and exchanged for the better one no hassle
