35mm Drill Bits

When you need to drill substantial clearance holes for major installations, our professional range of 35mm drill bits provides the power and precision required. Built for heavy-duty applications, these large-diameter bits are engineered to handle extreme torque and resist wear, allowing you to bore through tough structural materials with confidence. Whether you are sinking large anchor bolts, running thick plumbing pipes, or installing electrical trunking or door hinges, a dedicated 35mm bit is essential for accurate, efficient work.

We stock a selection of 35mm profiles designed for specific tasks. For heavy masonry and concrete, choose our highly durable SDS max hammer bits, designed to minimise vibration and maximise energy transfer from large rotary hammers. For fast, clean drilling in timber or MDF, our 35mm range includes deep-boring auger bits and precision Forstner bits, which are commonly used for installing concealed cabinet hinges. If you need to drill through sheet metal or plastics, our versatile step drill bits offer a smooth, progressive cut up to 35mm. Rely on trade-quality performance from leading brands like Bosch, Milwaukee, and Toolpak.

Frequently Asked Questions | FAQs

What is a 35mm Forstner bit used for?

A 35mm Forstner bit is primarily used in carpentry and cabinet making. It is the standard size required to drill the blind, flat-bottomed holes needed to install standard European-style concealed cabinet hinges in MDF, chipboard, or solid wood doors. Forstner bits cut very cleanly and precisely, leaving a smooth finish without tearing the grain.

Can I use a 35mm drill bit in a standard combi drill?

Generally, no. A 35mm hole requires significant torque, which is usually beyond the capacity of a standard 18V combi drill. Furthermore, most 35mm bits feature SDS Max or large hex shanks that will not fit a standard 13mm chuck. A 35mm Forstner bit can physically fit in a combi drill, but you must use a low speed setting to avoid burning the wood or stalling the drill. For 35mm holes in masonry, you must use a heavy-duty rotary hammer drill.

What is a 35mm step drill bit used for?

A step drill bit (or cone bit) ending at 35mm is used for drilling into thin materials like sheet metal, plastics, and laminates. The stepped design allows you to start from a small diameter and gradually enlarge the hole step-by-step up to 35mm using a single bit. This is ideal for creating clean, burr-free holes for electrical glands, switches, or pipework in trunking or control panels.
