Specialist Paints
You need to use the right paint for the job if you want to get the best results. This is doubly true when decorating more unusual surfaces. For these, you need specialist paints. Toolstation stocks a wide range of paints by leading brands such as Zinsser, Bedec and Rustins, to cover every decorating eventuality. From radiators to blackboards, barns to bathrooms, we have specialist and multi-purpose paint at everyday low prices.
Radiator Primer
Designed to withstand high temperatures, we stock quick drying, low odour, water based paint for domestic hot water radiators. This contains high quality white pigment making the paint non-yellowing and heat resistant.
Anti Mould Paint
For areas with high humidity, such as bathrooms, you need paint that’s mould, moisture, and steam resistant. Anti-mould paint contains a biocode to protect dried coatings against fungal degradation. It’s suitable for rooms with frequent temperature change and/or poor air circulation and it’s also washable and scrubbable. When you have a problem area that needs painting, choose from Toolstation’s range of specialist paints.
Frequently Asked Questions | FAQs
Can anti-mould paint stop existing mould?
Anti-mould paint is designed to prevent mould returning, rather than treating heavy existing growth. Before applying it, the affected area should be cleaned with a mould remover or fungicidal wash to kill existing spores. Once the surface is dry, anti-mould paint can be applied to help reduce the risk of future mould growth.
Is anti-mould paint suitable for ceilings?
Yes, anti-mould paint is commonly used on ceilings, particularly in bathrooms and kitchens where condensation collects. Applying it to ceilings as well as walls can help create a more complete moisture-resistant barrier.
Where should anti-mould paint be used?
Anti-mould paint is best used in areas prone to condensation or poor ventilation. This includes bathroom walls and ceilings, kitchens, laundry rooms and other spaces where steam and moisture regularly build up. It can also be useful in colder rooms where condensation forms on walls.
What does radiator primer do?
Radiator primer is designed to help paint adhere properly to metal radiator surfaces while also protecting against rust and heat damage. It prepares the surface for radiator paint, ensuring a smoother finish and improving durability when exposed to regular heating cycles.
