This scratch awl by Minotaur is a tool for woodworking and point-making. Use the steel spike with its fine point tip to mark out a line for a saw to follow, or to chisel joints. You can also use it to make a small hole in wood to work a screw inside. 
The chromium-vanadium steel material is extra strong so you can push the spike down hard without fear of damaging it. Its chrome content resists buildups of rust and prevents corrosion.
The handle is thick too, and it has enough solid plastic to give you some flexibility when applying a lot of pressure. The raised grip design allows you to get a firm hold when prying it into or out of compressed wood. You'll also find the handle soft to grasp, making it a comfortable tool to use.
