Product Details

This block plane from Minotaur is built to a classic design. It's ideal for end-grain work and is easy to manoeuvre, even with one hand. The body and blade are formed from durable and shock-resistant carbon steel to give you many years of reliable service. Its base and sides are precision-ground to ensure they'll slide smoothly across surfaces. 

This is a bevel down plane, which uses a frog to set the cutting angle. Separate vertical and lateral adjustment enables you to set the blade to your exact requirements to achieve a fine or coarse plane. The knobs used for adjusting are chunky and sturdy, with milled edges to help you get a good grip so they can be easily hand-tightened. The plane has a smart two-colour design. Its ergonomic handle ensures it's comfortable to use, however long the job takes.

Collection Details

Our opening times are 7am-8pm Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm Saturday and 9-4pm Sunday. Please check your local store is open on the store locator page, before you visit.

Once you have placed your order online, we’ll have it ready for you at the store you have selected in as little as 5 minutes. We will hold your order for 14 days, after which we will automatically generate a refund to the payment type you used to place the order.

Don’t forget your mobile number – Make sure your mobile number is added so that we can text you when your order is ready to collect. Please wait for your text or email before coming to collect your items.

If an item is eligible for Next Business Day Collection in store, the order must be placed by 9pm Monday to Thursday for collection the next day. Orders placed after 9pm on Thursday, and up to 5pm on Sunday, will be available for collection on Monday. For larger items over 30kg, please allow two business days.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed Bought this for my son. I have a Stanley that I bought years ago that just worked from the start. Remember the days when you bought stuff and it worked? I bought this expecting to have to square and sharpen it, and the overall reviews seem good, and TS seem to be promoting the Minotaur brand. Sadly this is not good. The blade adjusting frog, the threaded gliding block, had it's threaded hole badly aligned, so instead of sliding on the glides sat cockeyed on the front edge, raising the blade to a higher angle. Unfixable. Also, despite the blurb saying bevel down blade, it is in fact bevel up, (but so is the Stanley). Took it back unused for a replacement, the second one was even worse, entirely cockeyed. Pity. This is not high tech, it just needs manufacturing care and QC. There's a review some way down who notes exactly the same issues. I wish I had read them more carefully. But refunded without quibble

I had hopes for this, or at least to fettle it to make it decent, a fun project. Sadly the metal glide that adjusts the blade had it's threaded hole misaligned, so it sat cockeyed on one corner. Possibly useable, but the blade would be at the wrong angle, and the threaded hole would eventually crack as it was too close to the edge of the metal. Took it back for a replacement, that had the same problem, but even worse. Pity. These are not high tech, and only need a little care in manufacture and some quality control. I thought Minotaur might have been a half decent make, given that TS are promoting them. Not on this showing sadly. Refunded without quibble

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the moneys I’m not the most experienced with planes so that might be part of my issue but I found I had to work with this awhile to adjust it and it has to be realigned with each adjustment, can’t just be raised and lowered accurately. But for the money I think this is probably pretty good. You definitely can get good results with it.
