How to measure a cylinder lock?

To measure a replacement cylinder lock correctly, you need two specific dimensions. Open your door and locate the central retaining screw on the door's edge. Measure from the centre of this screw hole to the outside edge of the door's handle backplate (Measurement A). Then, measure from the centre of the screw hole to the inside edge of the backplate (Measurement B). Combined, these give you your required lock size (for example, 40mm external / 50mm internal).
