Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic stuff This stuff is great. Last year i used a chemical based remover to remove old dark brown varnish. It took a couple of hours and needed two coats (4hrs) before you could get to work on it. Then you had to repeat for the tougher bits. This stuff however is AMAZING simply apply with a paint brush, leave 15 -20 mins and the covering slides off. Gloss paint needs a little elbow grease, varnish comes off pretty easy but depending on the type you may need to have another go. I had to remove two coats of gloss which was painted over varnish. First coat after about 20 mins came off pretty much 100% with a good sharp scraper. I then applied again and after another scrape all was gone. For the area I was working on I went from old paint to bare wood in less than 1hr. I applied it thick and I think that helped. Best of all its solvent/ chemical free and doesn't smell or hurt your hands. A great product and have already been using it on other areas that need attention!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product Bought to remove two paint layers on a glass panelled door. Decided to use this as I was hoping it wouldn't damage the putty of the old leaded glass panels. Absolutely awful at removing paint! Followed the instructions and left it on for an hour, all that did was soften the top layer and turn it into something resembling very sticky chewing gum. After an Internet search, found further instructions from the manufacturer saying to apply a really thick layer, cover with cling film, and leave overnight. This did remove most (but not all) of the paint, and the required method of scrubbing with a metal scourer lifted the grain really badly. Needed three goes to finally be convinced I'd washed all of the product off. Now having to wait for it to dry out before seeing if I can sand it down enough to repaint. Overall, it's taken almost a week to do. I definitely wouldn't use this again.
