Are vertical radiators as efficient as horizontal radiators?

Yes. If correctly sized and installed, vertical radiators can match the heat output of horizontal models. Their efficiency depends more on size, panel count, material, and installation than orientation.

What are the advantages and drawbacks of tall radiators?

Advantages: 

• Saves horizontal wall space
• Flexible placement (e.g. between windows or behind doors)
• Aesthetic appeal
• Works well with modern layouts

Drawbacks: 

• Weight and mounting challenges
• May collect dust higher up
• If undersized, may struggle in large rooms or with heat distribution.

Can I replace a horizontal radiator with a vertical one?

Yes, often you can - but you must check pipework routing, wall strength, bracket load, valve positioning, and whether the new radiator meets the same heat output. It’s more complex than a like-for-like swap but feasible.
