Chimney Cowls

What are chimney cowls used for?
It’s not just downdrafts that a chimney cowl can prevent. It can also prevent rainwater, leaves or debris from entering, and some designs come with a bird guard too – this helps to prevent birds getting into the chimney and nesting.
You’ll find various configurations and materials including stainless steel and aluminium chimney toppers, and a choice of colours – terracotta blends in with many rooftops, making it a particularly popular option.

While a chimney topper or cowl can minimise downdrafts, sometimes you’ll need to seal off a disused chimney completely. That’s where a chimney cap comes in handy – it helps to protect the system during the winter months while reducing heat loss, yet allows essential ventilation.
