How do Jumper Cables Work?
Jumpstart cables can be used to power up your vehicle if the battery is flat. You can connect the flat battery to another vehicle’s fully-charged battery using jump leads when both cars have their engines switched off.
The red cable is used to connect the positive terminals of both car batteries. The black line is connected to the working battery’s negative terminal and an earth point on the faulty vehicle. The engine of the defective vehicle can then be re-started, and the car should run again.
