How Do TV Aerial Boosters Work?

There are several different types of TV signal boosters. Masthead amplifiers are fitted outdoors close to your antenna, whilst indoor TV boosters are placed around the home. In both cases, they counteract interference in areas with weak reception, like rural or hilly locations. However, if there is no signal whatsoever, a booster won’t make a difference. They can also reduce signal disturbance caused by cable resistance.

What is the Best Placement for TV Amplifiers?

Optimal placement varies for each amplifier. Generally, masthead boosters should be outside and close to the TV aerial. Indoor boosters are often placed near the TV, close to the aerial or by a window to maximise signal reception. The higher the amplifier is above ground level, the better connection it will have.
