A flush valve is an essential component of any bathroom suite. It controls the flushing system and tank filling functions within the toilet. The flush valve is connected to the toilet flush handle, so both parts must be kept in good working order. If you have a faulty flush valve, your toilet can’t dispose of wastewater safely and effectively. Which flush valve do I need? To determine which flush valve you need for your toilet, you can measure the drain opening at the bottom of the tank. Most flush valves are either 2 inches or 3 inches in diameter. How do flush valves work? The flush valve is operated by depressing the toilet flush handle, also known as a cistern lever. This allows water to flow from the tank into the toilet bowl via the valve. Toilet fill valves and toilet ball valves will stop the tank from filling with water once it reaches its maximum level.
