Wheat safety footwear offers a subtle variation on the classic yellow boot. The tone is slightly softer and more muted, popular in the timber framing and carpentry trades. The primary benefit of wheat footwear is the material: typically a high-quality nubuck leather that is sanded to give a slight nap of protein fibres, producing a velvet-like surface.
This material is generally softer than full-grain leather, meaning wheat boots often require little to no "breaking in" period - they are comfortable from the first wear. However, because the surface is open-pored, we strongly recommend treating wheat boots with a waterproofing spray to prevent water stains and keep your feet dry.
