Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good for cutting plasterboard, not much else. I managed to cut one hole in plasterboard, then moved on to pine. The cutting blades are positioned with hex nuts which are tightened with an allen Key (provided) even though tightened sufficiently, one blade lost position, thus ruining the wood. When making a second attempt, tightening hex bolt further, the key rounded the hexgonal nut, making it useless. This is a pity as Silverline products are generally good/fair quality. After five minutes, I felt like I might as well have taken my cash and thrown it in the bin. Wouldn't buy this item again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well This works really well but you need to take your time, and set the blades to the same distance, this will be the diameter cut. You must use a variable speed drill, start slow. If you don't, it will catch and that's going to hurt. The two blades cut a groove 2mm wide. The only thing that lets this down is the absense if any instructions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Watch out turtles here's shredder Utter garbage to to honest, wanders to much to make a clean cut, glad I tried it on a piece of scrap plasterboard first. Cant recommend but if you do buy it practice before using on your ceilings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Give it a try! I needed to cut a range of holes from 32-150mm in a sheet of 10mm polycarbonate. Having read the other reviews I was slightly wary of this tool, but thought "what the heck, go for it" and in the end I was glad I did. I'd originally intended to use a pillar drill, but the throat depth on mine was insufficient for the arms to swing round (you need at least 170mm from the chuck centre to the pillar), so I reluctantly used the cordless. Contrary to other reviews I found the graduations on the arm to be surprisingly accurate. Note that one cutter does the outside edge of the cut, the other does the inner - set the outer first, then the inner a few mm nearer the middle. The cutter is supplied with an 8mm pilot drill, and a plain pin which I'd assumed would replace the pilot drill once you'd drilled the pilot hole (so the hole didn't get bigger as you made the cut) however this pin is only 6mm diameter. I made a plain 8mm pin from a length of rod. Once set up, with the work-piece securely clamped, 32mm and 70mm holes were remarkably easy. The 150mm was also successful, but you need a powerful drill and a vice-like grip! I'd assumed that slow and steady was the way to go, but actually a medium speed and light pressure worked best. Even then it's not for the faint hearted - if you wanted to cut above 200mm you will need a big pillar drill and even bigger cajones!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did exactly what I needed ! I bought this to install ceiling speakers. No problems with it whatsoever - i actually bought 2 and we used them for the whole job and since with none of the problems other people have mentioned.
