Walkie Talkies and Wild Camping – Catching Up With Our Giveaway Winner

You may have seen a competition on our social media recently where our followers had a chance to win a pair of DeWalt DXPMR800 Walkie Talkies. We caught up with the winner of this competition, Michael Davies, to see how he was getting on with his prize.

"I would recommend these walkie talkies over any other type of communication. They’re technically brilliant and if I hadn’t won a pair, I’d have bought them – they’re extremely good value for money." – Michael Davies

Michael told us that he recently took his walkie talkies with him on a wild camping trip in the Derwent Valley where he encountered extreme rain and wind, resulting in poor visibility and the potential for trouble. Despite the adverse weather, he and his camping partner had no problem staying in touch- handy in an area where there’s next to no phone signal!

He was pleased with the clear sound despite the obstacles between him and his mate and was impressed with the fact that the walkie talkies are dust, water, and shockproof so could withstand a battering from the cold and wet weather.

It’s easy to see why Michael or any user would be impressed by the DXPMR800 handset, with 15,000 square metres of coverage, an extended signal range and an ultra-long run time of up to 16 hours all in a lightweight but robust casing. For those tradespeople and adventure enthusiasts who think that 10km is surplus to requirement, the DXPMR300 is a great alternative with the same high-quality production but a slightly smaller perimeter of coverage.
