Rated 5 out of 5 by from Met my expectations Pros: Easy start, no messing about with fuel etc, straight forward on/off cuts 8 inch logs with ease branch pruning is a breeze Cons: Lasts 40 mins, no issues as I have 4 battery packs difficult to get the correct chain sharpening kit

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Batteries . After waiting for the chainsaw to come into stock i now find out that the batteries are not available as out of stock so looks like i will have to pay full price as there is an offer to buy the batteries with saw, but more expensive when bought separate. so unable to give a review at the moment as cannot use the saw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from battery chainsaw I've had numerous petrol chainsaws, always smelly, noisey and very difficult to start if at they never did. So battery powered chainsaw, wasn't really convinced, had a bit of waiting for this 36volt machine, out of stock, finally got one, easy to put together, tried it out last week, awesome piece of kit, very pleased, quality construction, noise level very acceptable, bought two twin pack 4.0amph batteries, as they say did exactly what is says on the tin, highly recommended. Just hope 12months from now I'm still pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'd buy one again. A pleasure to use. Petrol chainsaws scare me a bit and in an urban environment regular use is a bit anti-social. I do cut up a bit of felled timber so wanted a 36V+ chainsaw. I looked at the pics and specs of all the competition, but couldn't even justify the cost of a Makita. Thought I'd be clever and get an Einhell cordless drill with interchangable 2Ah batteries to use on the chainsaw too. Sadly, they dont have the power to drive the 15m/s chainsaw. Still, with the 2x 4Ah batteries there's enough juice to fill the boot of a medium family saloon with wood. Working both sides of logs I can work up to 60cm width. I did buy a second set of batteries. I didn't need to, but just didn't want the enjoyment to end. If you're working in the garden, one set will be enough. I sharpen the chain every 2 to 4 charges. Takes 5 mins. Tensioning, I gauge how easy the chain rotates, rather than the simplistic advice in the book. Auto chain oiling works fine, but i do tend to prime the chain first, after a chain clean up. I was put off by pics of the flimsy looking silver plastic piece to the handle. This bit has been re-designed, beefed up and is perfectly fine. It is longer than a conventional petrol type, but the battery position is perfect, well balanced, and gives good leverage and control. I haven't used others but I'm perfectly happy with my choice. Now i have the batteries I guess I'd have to buy another Einhell if mine broke. There's nothing about it I'd like to change, so would be happy with the same model again. Shame they don't make a bag to put it in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deceptively good I have used 2 stroke chainsaws for a number of years, primarily for logging up storm damaged trees. Other than grumbles about preparing the mixture and getting it into the machine without spillage I have been generally satisfied. Last year, I bought the Einhell pole pruner and was pleasantly surprised with the effectiveness of the small chainsaw attachment, so, when my current petrol chainsaw started to show signs of coming to the end of its use, I decided to try this cordless model. The task was to finish logging an old hawthorn tree (about 200-350 mm thick) that had my petrol saw producing smoke from the engine. Yes, this came with a new blade and, yes, it now needs sharpening, but it was smooth and trouble free. I cannot say how long the (3 ah) batteries last, since I have not yet used them to exhaustion but, so far, I'm impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So quiet and works every time This review is after owning the saw for about 9mths Having had continual issues with my 2 stoke saw with stale fuel and the likes due to lack of use I thought I'd try a cordless. I wanted something I could just grab and go for light work around the garden. This seemed to fit the bill and without the fuss of keeping and mixing fuel. I was skeptical of its ooomph but felt for light trimming it should be fine. However its turned out to be far more than just for light trimming, with a pair of 3Ah batteries it made light work logging up to 10" dia of wood. The batteries gave around 20-30mins use on and off which resulted in around 3 wheel barrows worth of logs ranging from 10" down. OK the chain is in tip top condition and I suspect once the edge goes you may find a 10" trunk may take its toll on the batteries but for my use currently its fantastic. The biggest thing I've found is I can cut stuff up without ear defenders on and my wife or neighbors dont even know I'm doing it when compared to the noise of the 2 stroke engine. Early Sunday morning logging or trimming can be achieved with little disturbance to the neighborhood. I'd recommend a pair of chargers or a twin charger so you can charge both batteries at the same time and I found by the time I'd gathered what I'd chopped had a quick brew the batteries were good to go again. How the batteries fair over time will be interesting to see but as they are standard 18650 cells I suspect they will be fairly robust worst case they should be fairly easy to re-cell if you have the ability. With both batteries it weighs about the same as my small 2 stroke but the handle is a little longer which might cause issues when working in a confined space. So 9mths on and I’m still loving this saw, it doesn’t get used often but the fact I can grab and go and have the confidence it will work is worth its weight in gold. Yes it’s a bit more expensive with the batteries and charger when compared to say a cheap petrol saw but not having to mix fuel up and the fact you can use it in the early hours or late into the evening is brilliant and worth the extra cost. My only one criticism would be the bar feels a bit flimsy compared to my small petrol saw but to date it hasn’t caused me any problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well Good power output up to blade capacity . Suprisingly weighty -at least as heavy as the eqivalent petrol if not more so. Did everthing it was asked until discharged or temperature? (not sure which) Chain lubrication somewhat sparse- so will need checking out. No tools needed for chain adjustment or bar removal.
