Reviews
Dickie Dyer Heavy Duty Immersion Heater Spanner 86mm is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid tool Good, solid tool, more robust than the socket and bar type. Would be five stars if handle was either a bit longer or easier to slip an extension over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got me out of trouble! This is a very robust wrench that should dislodge the most reluctant of elements from your immersion tank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget other spanners, this is the one to have. This is the perfect tool for removing immersion heaters, its heavy and wont bend or distort when you use it. Fit the spanner on tightly and if the heater wont come out by hand when you rotate the spanner, give it a sharp tap with a hammer to ease removal. Do this with a near full cylinder of water to prevent the copper cylinder distorting. Make sure you undo in the right direction ! Remove the cable first after isolating the electricity to the circuit. Some say the spanner didnt fit but it fitted my immersion perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At last, a DECENT immersion element spanner! When it came to removing a blown immersion heater element, which a previous plumber had GLUED in place, rather than using a washer, there was no way the cheap pressed steel spanner would unscrew the element - it was too thin to get a decent grip on the thin drive flange of the element, and being cranked, the turning force wasn't appliedb in line with the flange, and so the spanner just slipped off every time! Plus, I'm not enjoying watching the copper tank flexing... Quick trip to Toolstation, and I'm armed with a spanner that actually looks as though it was designed by an engineer! Nice deep drive flanges, with a cast ring to locate the spanner against the element. Decently long handle, with an anvil on the end to use a hammer if necessary. Two sharp taps from a small club hammer, and the glued joint was free, with no flexing of the tank wall, no slippage, and no cursing! I always relish how easy many tasks become if only you have the right tools, and believe me, this is THE right tool for immersion elements 10/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great tool Outstanding, been trying to get the immersion heater off all day with a immersion spanner with the rod (to the point of the rod bending). One smack with a hammer with this and it was loose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfect As others described very fit but two taps of a hammer and it came under saving me a least £400 for a new tank

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You will have to customise this tool Bought this despite the other reviews. The tool is insanely heavy and durable but seems not to fit any heating elements (including my old and new one). Had to tape two £1 coins to the tool to stop it spinning. It seems to be a 90mm instead of 86mm. If you can I would recommend a pipe wrench instead.
