Great Looking Thermostat
Just installed this today in place of an ancient Honeywell bimetallic strip based piece of 1968 technology. It looks great. Given that it is showing 28.4 degrees C as the current room temperature (yes, writing this during the Summer 2018 heatwave) then I can't speak for its performance in regular service but I have tested it and all is good.
Be careful of the wiring. Old thermostats used three (3) wires: Supply, Neutral, Load because they themselves used mains power to operate. This new thermostat is battery powered and so does not need that neutral connection. It is a two (2) wire device. I took the opportunity to rewire things a bit using the existing installed cable, using the what was the neutral wire to carry the load back to the pump, etc.
Connector block is a bit small for the incoming wires. Toolless connectors would have been nice and a bit more space to work with the incoming cable. For example (see above) I had a spare earth wire on the incoming cable which I wanted to terminate somewhere rather than just let it dangle around. There is no earth terminal on the backplate and there is no room between the backplate and the thermostat to fit even an ultra low profile Wago connector. Come on Mr Tower, how about addressing this very practical point.
