Telescopic Radiator Valve Tail Short is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked very well I used these to make up a larger than expected gap when replacing an old radiator (new one 40 mm narrower). They did the job well and look good on completion! I'd read reviews of this and similar products; mostly good but some issues with leaks. So I was a bit nervous! I had 2 leaks! One on the connection into the radiator on one side, the other at the compression joint on the other side. As a DIYer I'd looked for advice on how much PTFE to apply to the non-compression joint. It's amazing how much it varies! I had applied 7 wraps but obviously this was insufficient for one side (?). Some professionals say they use 10 to 12 so I did 12 and it resolved that issue. I'm not sure what happened at the compression joint end. I found a replacement olive - I did notice how much the replacement one looked sturdier than the one supplied with this valve. Applying this olive cured the leaking. As a non-plumber, it may be that I did something wrong when setting up the compression joint although I did the same as the other side and that worked. There are no fitting instructions at all - I just received the valves. I have therefore rated the product specification as 'poor'.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useful Makes replacing a radiator easy(ier). As another reviewer pointed out the illustration is slightly misleading. The nut and olive are removed from one end and fitted to the other. I guess it’s easier to store as shown.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Job made easier Changing a radiator where there was only 6 inches of pipe rising from a concrete floor. And old half inch pipe to boot. So a telescopic tail to make up for the couple of inches difference in radiator sizes without altering pipework was a very attractive prospect. Was a bit apprehensive, not really understanding how it could make a perfect seal. But the fact is that it does, and the happy result is that it works perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Fitted to my new radiators. Does the job well at the right price. The telescopic design make the final fitting of the brackets and pipework less critical. Hopefull the seals will never cause a problem with leaks in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got me out of trouble! Replacing an existing downstairs radiator fed by copper pipes set in concrete floor. The distance between the tail inlets on the old and new radiators were different, so a pair of these solved the problem. The catalogue photo is a little confusing. The nut (with olive) goes on the larger diameter pipe end and is connected to valve. The mail thread screws into the radiator, with the pipe able to slide inside it.
