Product Details

This steel wool is a roll of fine flexible sharp-edged threads which act as a versatile abrasive. It's a large 450 g bundle designed to keep you going for a good while. The steel material is malleable to touch but strong when pressed down against a surface, wearing away adhesives and contaminants.

Use it for finishing your woodwork and for removing varnish from furniture and floors. It performs well on metal surfaces as well, cleaning cookware and preparing copper pipes for soldering. Steel wool is also the ideal material for blocking holes and gaps to stop vermin getting through. It's able to be compressed to fit any shape of opening and its tough steel construction is one of the only materials mice or rats can't gnaw through. For safety, it's best to use gloves when using this product and to keep it away from fire hazards due to its flammable properties.

Items over 30kg can only be delivered from Monday to Friday. If ordered before 6pm, please allow up to two business days for delivery. Orders placed after 6pm Thursday will be delivered after the weekend.

Collection Details

Our opening times are 7am-8pm Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm Saturday and 9-4pm Sunday. Please check your local store is open on the store locator page, before you visit.

Once you have placed your order online, we’ll have it ready for you at the store you have selected in as little as 5 minutes. We will hold your order for 14 days, after which we will automatically generate a refund to the payment type you used to place the order.

Don’t forget your mobile number – Make sure your mobile number is added so that we can text you when your order is ready to collect. Please wait for your text or email before coming to collect your items.

If an item is eligible for Next Business Day Collection in store, the order must be placed by 9pm Monday to Thursday for collection the next day. Orders placed after 9pm on Thursday, and up to 5pm on Sunday, will be available for collection on Monday. For larger items over 30kg, please allow two business days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Steel Wool 450g There's not really much to say about wirewool. It does what it's supposed to do by cleaning various different materials. It's a good size which is cheaper than using wirewool pads. I use Toolstation for my items as usually they are the cheapest around so I don't usually shop around. I actually did find this item cheaper at a well known retailer of the same type of shop which surprised me. I probably need to shop around in future but I'm still happy using Toolstation as they are usually the cheapest for quality items. I had to drive past the other store on the same road to get to Toolstation so I could have purchased the wirewool from there at the cheaper price so I will check both stores in future especially in the current climate regarding the cost of living.
