SIP 01478 1500W 1/2" Router 230V is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for This is an inexpensive router supplied in an unsealed carry case. Most of the accessories are loose inside, so it's hard to check everything is there. Mine was missing the collet spanner. I was looking for a router to fit to a router table, which I managed, but only after some re-engineering, as the base plate does not detach and the two spare holes for attaching accessories seemed too small for a robust attachment and had to be enlarged. The on/off switch also lacks a locking facility, although for table use a cable tie can hold the switch down. As a freehand router this machine is smooth running with a good positive grip and control, but it clearly wasn't designed with table attachment in mind. Packaging needs improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product Having great fun with my latest purchase, the quality is superb with great features. I particularly like the soft start which makes the user experience much better. Complete with case and six router bits, although it is a shame they are not 1/2" shanks. Disappointed Toolstation have decided to stop selling this Router. I have answered yes to the reliability question as the Router feels top quality but in reality I have only owned it for a few days so time will tell!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought this a couple of weeks ago because my old router couldn't take 1/2" bits. Used this a couple of times and love the on off control makes it so easy to use

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Faulty item. This device was faulty when bought. The 1/2in chuck was jammed in the router and so far I have been unable to remove it. I will have to waste yet more time tomorrow phoning the SIP Helpdesk to see what they can suggest. If no good solution I will have to return it to you and claim my money back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's doing the job I am very much a DIYer. I do the occasional bit of home carpentry, mostly repairs. Usually I use hand chisels if I want to cut a mortice, but the job I'm doing now needed 12 mortices for a replacement rail on large garden bench. They would have taken me quite a while to cut by hand and they would have tried my patience, so I decided I'd try an electric plunge router. I didn't want to spend a lot because I probably won't use it very often, so I bought this cheapish one. It's doing the job really well. I'll end up with a much better job than if I had cut them by hand, and of course it's much quicker. I'm very pleased. Could have given it 5 stars but as I don't have any other routers to compare it with, that seems over-generous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made, very sturdy Bought this recently and have used it to profile 12m of timber to make window frames. It works well, the 1550watt motor made light work of the job.
