As a novice welder I'm surprised at how easy this is to use. I used it mostly for welding bits of 5mm plate to each other and it worked a treat. It's got a 10% duty cycle, but it still only cut out twice during over 90 mins of welding at 80A

Great little welder
This was purchased to do little jobs around the site. The main unit appears to be well built but the earth and rod clamps a little budget. That said it does a great job and has already been on two excursions. Obviously not a professional unit but absolutely ideal for the smaller task.
P.S. The first unit arrived damaged in transit but in true Toolstation style it was promptly replaced. Top marks for service

Great for DIY
I bought this as a beginner/occasional use around the house welder. The welder itself is great and works as you would expect it to and at a good price. A few people look down their noses at this particular brand, however I have never had an issue, that said, an arc welder is a very simple tool with not much to go wrong. I have so far used the welder to join two steel car wheels together and a few other bits to make a garden stove, It worked just fine, considering I had never used an arc welder before, the final result was decent.
The handheld mask that comes with the kit is pretty poor, too dark to see anything prior to striking the arc, and even once its struck, its pretty hard to see, also ideally you want both hands to be free, especially if you are just starting out like me. I would suggest getting a helmet style auto dimming mask.
The chipping hammer that comes with the kit is also pretty useless, as is the wire brush attached to it, but these can be found cheap enough.
