Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adequate, but not sure about quality and longevity Arrived promptly and well packaged. Much thinner walls and heating coil inside much smaller diameter than old cylinder, so probably longer to heat water to required temperature. Label says it will take immersion heaters up to 1000mm long but my 880mm heater would not fit. Contacted manufacturer who said it would only take one up to 700mm and suggested I bought a 27" one. They knew label was wrong but it had been like that for some time and never changed. Indifferent attitude that basically said tough. Will have to wait and see if it lasts as long as old cylinder, which was 32 years, but somehow I doubt it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Misleading picture Good quality cylinder bought to replace leaking one but 2 gripes - The picture in the catalogue shows a cylinder with the immersion heater hole directly above the coil fittings (so the in a normal tight airing cupboard installation the immersion heater would be at the front and accessible). Mine had the hole at the back so future replacement if needed will be difficult and the wiring up was harder than it should have been. Did they just make it wrong?. the coil fittings were about 20 mm higher than on the old cylinder so connections had to be remade (aren't they standard?)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much easier to install, now fully insulated. I had a leaking coil insert washer, so decided it was time to bite the bullet and replace the cylinder. I was 'in the trade' in the '70s, so I could easily handle this job. I ordered on line for next day delivery, which arrived early, 10am. That is early for me!! The tappings were all different from my old cylinder, not only the positions, but also the sizes. I went to the local branch to collect all the necessary 1" brass fittings. I noticed immediately that, either the tappings were loose or the brassware was undercut, as the fit was extremely loose. On my first fill up all the fittings leaked even though there was no thread left to tighten them up with. After draining down, I had to re do all the threads with the thickest PTFE tape I had, which was a remnant from the '70s also. Do Crosslite still exist? Anyhow, the second fill up was perfect, no leaks, otherwise I had considered using boss white and hemp, yes, I still have some! I had an issue with the immersion heater, as the insulation restricted the spanner fitting securely. This was easily rectified with a stanley knife and I sliced a disc of insulation off, tightened the immersion and refitted the insulation. Almost indistinguishable. I waited a couple of days to proove everything was secure and leak free (phew), and it had cycled though hot/cold etc. Then made a cut out for the cylinder stat. I just need to do some fine tuning of the water temperature over a week or two, but all seems well so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lined up to existing plumbing Good copper cylinder to replace the old one that was blocked with over 50kg of wet scale. I wish that it had an additional 22mm flange for a power shower take off, but they don't. Can not comment on reliability for another 20 years..........

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement for a 20+ year old cylinder. Good value cylinder. The cold water feed and hot water outlet are 1" BSP, which caused me a dash to the plumber's merchants but the heating coil fittings were like for like. Used plenty of PTFE tape thanks to previous reviews, the tank felt a little flimsy when tightening joints but no leaks. Pretty happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy replacement Wanted a quick replacement for a tank with a weeping leak. Guess what, your favourite diy suppliers don't stock these anymore. Toolstation provided one next day from an on line order, delivered to my home, before middayin my case, at a competitive price. Terminal connections were compatible with the original fittings so no running out for new bits. Terrific service, absolute lifesaver!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needed a lot of foam trimming The cylinder is good and the foam thick and quite tough. The problem is the relief around the 5 ports was poor. Only the hot outlet was OK. Worst was the immersion heater port that was off centre and needed about 20mm cut away one side just to get a box spanner in. You need a box spanner for this cylinder. An offset spanner will not work. I must have spent a hour cutting foam back which I should not have to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fitted straight in Installed two a couple of weeks ago and working fine. Bit of a problem on the joints on one but down to me. Needs the fibre washers and I was too tight to buy the packet of 100 when I only needed 2. Perhaps Toolstation could start doing smaller packs for those of us who don't need so many.
