Rustins Anti Corrosion Metal Primer Red 2.5L is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish you will pull your hair out This stuff is absolute rubbish. I wish like others have said I had read the reviews! This is so thick and to the point out of the tin is useless for brush or roller application it tore my foam roller into bits as it sticks too much and it just will not go on with a brush. Even using proper thinners it will go on then but leaves ridiculous runs as it needs to be over thinned to get it to brush, it will not join into the other paint and flow with it which you have applied as the thinners on that evaporates super fast so the new loaded brush just sticks back into it. Really don't buy it it will make a pigs ear of your work, I'm going to have to sand mine again to flatten this off and get something much better. Some 15 year old Dulux metal primer worked great but I ran out and had to use this paste as it can't be classed as paint, the 15 year old Dulux was great stuff

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Primer! This is an excellent primer. Great product, great value for money. It is very thick and at first I struggled with it but once I found the right thinner it has definitely been a quality primer and I would definitely recommend it. (Just a personal note, and only mentioned because I didn't find any recommendations anywhere on what to use or not use as a thinner of this primer..... do not try thinning the primer with any white spirits type product! After a couple of trials I found nail polish remover worked a treat!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rustins Anti Corrosion Metal Primer Red 1L Good old fashioned primer does the job remember you will need thinners to dilute and for a good seal and finnish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good coverage Looks as though it will work well on my rusty outdoor furniture. Very viscous, so needs thinning slightly to make it easier to apply

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not happy at all Tins were wrapped in cling film and lids not on properly causing paint to leak and ruin a coat and car upholstery

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what you expect, poor brushed finish. Previous grey or red oxide primers from Toolstation have been white spirit based, slow drying, good flow and giving a flat finish. This one is cellulose thinners/xylene based and flashes off far too quickly to give a streak free flat finish from a brush. The paint surface in the tin will skin over as you use it. It is as if Rustins have a load of automotive primer filler and simply packed it as a metal primer. Thinned with cellulose thinners it sprays on well, almost as good as a top quality automotive primer and gives good film build and finish, at a far cheaper price than an auto primer. As a quick brush on primer it does a good covering job, but leaves very visible brush marks because of poor flow, drying almost as soon as it is applied. Previous reviews bear this out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too thick! VERY THICK paint. Was unable to use it. Paint must be thinned with appropriate thinners (not turps)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rustins Bought this two days ago, read the reviews and wish I’d listened. The paint is rubbish mixed with thinners and and still to thick to paint with absolute waste of money. Avoid
