Reviews
Rustins Anti Corrosion Metal Primer Red 2.5L is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the right job, excellent I agree with other reviews that it’s incredibly thick. I seemed to be pouring loads of the xylene thinner and it only thinned slightly. Having persevered, it turned out to be an excellent paint for some Victorian cast iron downpipes, painting well over rusty bits and having an authentic colour for this purpose. Used it a bit later on iron railings which had become rusty after some neglect. It took care of the lumpy rusted parts and was an excellent undercoat which I then painted black.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quite possibly the worst paint ive ever used I bought this to prime up a motorcycle frame .... i wish i had read the reviews ... its thicker than body filler and you have to thin it with some specialist nasty thinner. Its that thick i thought it had gone off ... i asked for my money back but as i came back after 3 weeks was told not possible .. Ile try not to use tool station now ... not impressed with paint or aftercare ....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expensive and useless without other product Bear in mind if you but this then you also need' £8 worth of thinners so yr litre becomes £19.it doesnt work without it .white spirit doesnt mix it

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good finish Great paint, but needed to buy thinner to use it which I thought was disappointing, he paint once thinned was good and gave a good finish

Rated 1 out of 5 by from rubbish same as other, totally unusable. took the first one back. second is just the same. needs to be thinned down by a lot. it more like icing a cake then painting. all will need sanding down and started again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible, thick & sticky... Bought this today, just horrible & certainly not user friendly, very poor show for a brand like Rustins. It's very thick & sticky, almost glue like, horrible to apply, yes you maybe able to thin, but that means going out again to buy the correct thinners. This is not usable straight out of the tin, will definitely stick to the other brands even worth paying more, if I could take it back I would. Definitely not recommended, definitely dissatisfied

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great primer Bought this originally as a temporary protection for an old car I was restoring to cover bare panels until could spray car paint. Yes it is VERY thick but once thinned with the correct thinners (I wish people would read the data sheet) it sprayed beautifully and left a really good finish, so good that I am getting another tin to do the whole underside and floor inside and just put top coats over it when ready. Very pleased with it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from More porridge than primer Should have read the reviews first as this product proved impossible to apply, as other purchasers have warned. Prolonged stirring was a waste of time as the the primer remained in a non-liquid state and then clung to the brush like sticky clay. I have no idea why the manufacturer would even market this when it is so clearly not fit for purpose. The solution was to throw the can away -- the only benefit being to learn from the experience (and remember to read the reviews before buying).
