England and Northampton Saints rugby star Courtney Lawes excited customers and fans at the opening of Toolstation Didcot this week by engaging in some throwing practice, talking tactics and signing shirts.
Lawes, who has 65 England caps and played on the last year’s tour of New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions, chatted to customers as he helped mark the opening of Toolstation’s 307th branch. The dad of four even decided to make his own purchases whilst there, buying some adhesive and rope so that he could finish building and fixing play equipment for his children.
Matt Grierson, branch manager at Toolstation Didcot said the presence of Courtney had helped make the opening a huge success and attracted customers from across the region:
“It was great to have Courtney officially open our Didcot branch. He proved to be a top class draw for customers both local and who had travelled to be here, and helped create a fantastic atmosphere by being so willing to chat to people, sign their shirts and show us some of the skills that have made him a great player for England and Northampton.”
John Meaden, marketing director at Toolstation added his thanks to Courtney, saying:
“We’d like to publically thank Courtney for opening Toolstation Didcot, and for being so friendly and welcoming to customers and fans. As the shirt sponsors of Northampton Saints we’re proud to have a great partnership with the club and players, and we hope to provide more opportunities for our customers to meet stars such as Courtney as we continue to grow our national branch network beyond the 307 we now have.”
Toolstation Didcot is located at Unit 5a, Trident Business Park, Basil Hill Road, Didcot, OX11 7HJ and is open seven days a week, from 7am – 7pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sundays.
