Mortar Raking Tool 8 x 40mm is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well Doesn’t last long on really hard mortar, but never thought it would, zips through the softer stuff though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the job I've bought a few of these. Just drill a few 8mm pilot holes in the mortar bed then clear it out with the mortar rake. Perfect for repointing without damaging the brick face.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy Complete let down, the coating on this came off in the first 6 inches of use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from waste of money drilled hole into mortar then inserted raking tool, 5 seconds later I have a slightly elongated hole and a silver polished bar with no coating. totally useless!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hopeless Bought this hoping to speed up the process of removing cracked mortar where an extension had been added but it only survived about five bricks worth - that is five bricks NOT five rows of bricks!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job but wears out very quickly I used this to repoint a 2.5m long single story wall. It was good at picking out the old mortar without the risk to the bricks that using a disc has (I used a disc as well). I'll have to buy another one to finish the wall and as long as you except they are consumables you'll be ok. buy a couple at a go perhaps

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute rubbish After using this for a short amount of time, i found that the roughness to the stem had worn down making the raking tool far less efficient in removing the mortar (and yes i did drill a pilot hole first with a drill). If the tool had been made with a harder metal, it would probably be quite useful; however, as it is, it's not much more than scrap. Stick to using an angle grinder.
