Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb For Porcelain Was faced with needing to drill multiple holes in VERY hard porcelain tiles and dreading the prospect. Needed to be able to do so accurately and repeatedly. Having read multiple reviews of numerous similar items I took a chance on this (the 8mm version). From the very outset, I was really impressed. The bit went through the 9mm thick porcelain tile in about 2-3 minutes leaving an extremely neat hole with no chipping. (Still thought "Great, but this is too good to last"). Now having made 30+ holes the bit is still performing as it did first time. Originally, I bought two of these assuming that even if they worked that they wouldn't go on forever. The second will be exchanged for a larger size on My next visit. I really like this drill bit/holesaw it took the dread out of the daunting task. The instructions on the packaging are scant to say the least. But. Start cutting with the drill angled to start on one side only then ease flatter and flatter as it seats itself (so it cuts a dip at first, then a crescent then a circle). Getting the knack takes seconds. Keep the bit cool. (I used a plant spray on a "water pistol" narrow jet). As soon as the water begins to evaporate, then squirt again or just squirt every 5 seconds. Keep the bit clean & clear. (I used an old, narrow electrical screwdriver). Being a holesaw, the central hole can become clogged with ground tile or the detached plug, which can soon pack out the hole, causing it to heat up faster. Stop drilling, back out and unpick this regularly with the screwdriver and spray, keeping it entirely clear at all times. Drill pressure, no need to apply heavy pressure, just a medium force to ensure steady contact, not even as heavy as if you were driving home a screw. Drill speed, frankly the bit seemed just as happy in a cordless as it did in a 240v, using full speed in either. (Although with water involved maybe the cordless option is safest). Drill chuck, clear & clean this after you finish or your drill chuck could seize up, due to the fine wet paste produced which will set like concrete in your soon corroded chuck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much better than I anticipated Normally low cost diamond tile drill bits don’t last very long and after drilling a few holes the bit needs replacing. These JCB bits are still working and appear to be very good quality for the price. The drill bit needs to be dipped in cold water frequently. So you shouldn’t uses these bit with a mains powered drill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Porcelain holesaw Had some really hard porcelain tiles to drill and this holesaw did the job no problem. Have more holes to drill but the bit is still going strong after 12 holes.
