Corgi Frost Room Thermostat Volt Free is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Basically good so far Originally branded Tower, now branded Corgi. It has worked well since June 2013. Replaced Dec 2019 that is a good old life. Failure mode: failed on (good because it failed safe protecting the pump house) I hope this one, same quality & lasts as long. Why it should fail now when its only a bi-matalic bar needs a bit more engineering. Sachtwell frost stats would last for 20yrs or more. Reading the reviews the failure mode is failure to switch off sort this and you have Satchwell quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low Hysteresis For a 'volt-free' thermostat this device has a surprisingly small hysteresis: only 1degC at a frost setting of 5degC. It does the job, and does it well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unreliable rubbish The first one failed and replaced with a second on the basis that a any item may be an isolated fault. The second one has now failed after the first operation in cold weather, Failed to switch off and appears to have lost all ability to tell the temperature and control the heat source - same fault as the first. Its basically cheap and nasty - look for something better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what it claimed to be The packaging showed a frost thermostat with a suitable temperature range extending to below zero C but the actual device was an ordinary room 'stat with range from 10C upwards. And it was the only one they had in the shop. (I'd previously bought their Salus frost stat which claimed on their website and catalogue to be volt-free but wasn't.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as expected It's been operating for about a week and so far it seems to be doing exactly what I bought it for - to operate a small tube heater in my shed to keep the frost off. I can vouch for its accuracy as I have a digital thermometer next to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working well...but Forced into buying this as the stat. on the electric heater in our conservatory has always been rubbish. This purchase will pay for itself in saved electricity! I do have one gripe though - to mount this I purchased a shallow surface box at the same time. The box lacked a lip or lugs around it's perimeter and therefore this frost stat 'falls' into the box at an angle - most unsatisfactory. Obviously this is a fault of the box and not the stat, which I do recommend

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Multiple failures Bought and returned 3 thermostats all with the same fault ( N/O contact failed to close on drop in temperature) Nobody interested in investigating problem neither supplier nor distributor.
