New partnership between Toolstation and Travis Perkins

On Monday 7th April 2008, it was announced that Toolstation Ltd and Travis Perkins plc have agreed a new partnership.

Toolstation was started in 2003 by Mark Goddard-Watts, a member of the family that sold Screwfix Direct to the Kingfisher Group in 1999. Travis Perkins, with a successful history which can be traced back to 1797, is a long-established name in the building supplies sector.

The unique feature of Toolstation is that its entire IT infrastructure was designed and constructed before the company commenced trading. This has meant that the business runs seamlessly and efficiently across all channels, keeping its costs low so that, in turn, it offers unbeatable prices and service to its customers.

Travis Perkins has now invested in Toolstation and will be supporting an accelerated roll-out of Toolstation branches. The partnership means that Toolstation will continue to run independently, but with the financial backing of one of the UK's most successful companies.

Toolstation opens in Scotland as latest catalogue launches

At 332 pages, Toolstation's latest Catalogue 24 is out now, complete with a new category on construction products. Publication of the new catalogue coincides with Toolstation's newest branch opening in Glasgow at the end of January, marking another milestone in branch expansion and one which is sure to be welcomed by tradespeople in Scotland.

500 new products have been added by Toolstation right across the range, with more than 10,000 product lines now offered by the company. The new construction product category includes flooring, double glazing, guttering and drainage products amongst many others. For example there is solid Hevia Parawood flooring offered, which is a top quality 15mm thick solid wood floor able to be sanded and re-lacquered if the original finish becomes worn or damaged. The new range of double glazed windows come ready to install in various sizes. Other new lines introduced include caramel coloured guttering to complement woodgrain effect UPVC windows and conservatories and new central heating boilers from Ravenheat & Sunvic.

The new Glasgow Toolstation, like other Toolstation branches will be open 7 days a week. The Toolstation branch network now includes warehouse trade counters in Bristol, Bridgwater, Exeter, Yeovil, Fareham, Leeds, Manchester, Tipton and now Glasgow.

Toolstation accelerates branch expansion

Mid November saw the opening of Toolstation's latest warehouse and sales counter at Tipton, ready to serve some 50,000 tradespeople in the Midlands, and close to M5 Junction 1 and M6 Junction 9 (IKEA).

It's the first in a series of future new branch openings with four more due to open around Greater London, Wales and the North by Easter 2008. In only a year Toolstation will have doubled its number of branches throughout the UK and there are now three Toolstation branches open in The Netherlands as well.

The newest branch at Tipton is one of the largest at 10,000 sq.ft. and like all other branches carries the full range of 10,000 product lines in stock. As always, customers can choose to order by phone or online for delivery to site or picking-up at the branch. A new facility just introduced by Toolstation enables customers to set up their order online with a unique reference code which is presented to the branch for immediate pick-up of stock items, saving customers even more time.
